Pax Christi Chorale 2017

Pax Christi Chorale, a Toronto-based choir, was in need of a new direction for their 2017 season. The design approach was to mirror PCC’s vision of presenting traditional choral music from a fresh perspective. I created three concert images, each that graphically interpreted its musical score.

With three concerts in the season, I developed a system that would transcribe the first four bars of each piece into a unique image sourced directly from the musical score.

Each note became a colour block, which were then transcribed to a grid.

As each piece had four vocal parts and two organ parts, each were assigned a colour, and each created its own grid.

The six resulting grids were then overlaid on each other to create the concert image.
