Pax Christi Chorale, a Toronto choir, was in need of a brand refresh and a new look for their upcoming season. With an artistic vision of presenting classical oratorio music through an innovative lens, the look and feel closely follows: a bold and graphic reinterpretation of a classical music performance.
With three concerts in the 2016 season, I developed a system that would transcribe the first four bars of each piece into a unique image sourced directly from the musical score.
Each note became a colour block.
And the colour blocks were transcribed onto a grid.
Each of the six parts was assigned a colour, and the six grids overlaid onto each other.
These images were then used across promotional materials, as windows through which concert-specific imagery, such as composer images and lines of score were revealed.
